The 2020 edition of Classical Encounters, which was supposed to take place May 13-17, can not take place in the way we had imagined it, due to the measures taken against corona. We realize only too well that music can offer solace, connects people, and is indispensable in these trying times. That is why Classical Encounters is announcing an online edition, which will take place on Sunday, May 17: Classical Encounters Online!
A chamber music festival – can it be done digitally? The new reality in which we’ve suddenly found ourselves is challenging us to find new possibilities. We’re asking what still remains possible, or rather: what has now become possible?
Classical Encounters has decided to rise to the occasion. As a festival that is always looking for connections, we will also embrace the online encounter!
On Sunday, May 17, we invite you and everybody who has a monitor, speakers and internet, to join us for a day of digital festival, live from the Lourdes Church in The Hague. During the live stream, which will last from noon until six pm, you will be treated to non-stop live concerts (with brief introductions), a short lecture, interviews, and surprising musical intermezzos. Host Dieuwertje Blok and artistic director Eva Stegman will guide you through our one-day online festival.
